What a beautiful mosque.

This is Masjid Beijing, one of the new mosques built around Kelantan. It's actual name is Masjid Sultan Ismail Petra but Kelantanese called it Masjid Beijing because of the architecture and structure of the mosque which looks like a Chinese Pagoda.

The Islamic Government wants to tell people that we should stop racism. So far most mosques were built in the Malay communities because most Malays are considered Muslim. However, nowadays more and more Chinese have embraced Islam and they deserved to have mosques built and have influence from the Chinese culture. It's nothing wrong even though there are some people who do not agree.

If you come to Kelantan, make sure to visit Rantau Panjang and drop by this Masjid Beijing for solat.

Window Shopping

Assalamualaikum to all dear readers and friends.

Have you ever heard of the phrase 'window shopping'? I don't know whether this is a common phrase outside of Malaysia, you girls have to tell me. Anyway, this phrase is very common here. Whenever you go out with friends to just looking, walking, trying, or frankly sigh-seeing in shopping malls without buying anything, you'll be referred as going for 'window shopping'.

So far, I seldom go out for 'window shopping'. I don't really like going out to the crowded malls just for wasting my time by looking around. Usually I'll go because I have something to buy and I have a list ready so that I know where I want to go and what I want to buy.

However, I did went to KB Mall for 'window shopping' twice. Both are after I finish my exam papers. It's just to release some stress and people said that it's a kind of a therapy to look at things that can make you happy. And by 'window shopping' I went to a bookshop, a boutique, a handbag shop and a shoe store. I didn't buy anything but inside my head a plan was form. Yes, I was planning to buy certain things that I've seen, hehe.

Later, when the money is okay I went again to buy what I've planned.

A Slight Variation On The Shayla Wrap

For a bit more of a formal look, this hijab style (from Amenakin) is slightly different to your average wrap. It's probably not suited to hotter weather but I like it anyway:

Falling in love instantly

Assalamualaikum everyone.

May all of you are in good iman and health.

This is just a short entry to share with you my new lovely abaya. This is what people called, love at first sight. I just can't move my eyes away from the picture of this abaya and since I have the budget for a birthday present, I think why not?

And, I have made the payment this morning. I asked the seller to customize it to my size and now I have to wait patiently until it's arrival.

Just look at the sleeves. This is so different from my all black abayaat. And thankfully dear husband like it. That's important :D

Even though I'm selling abayaat myself, I also buy a few for my own use. When you are wearing abaya every day, you need more than 5 abayaat. And as I am working day and night, I need more, hehe.

Till then, don't drool at my abaya. You can also get one!

Wassalam. Love to everyone.

Summer Hijab Idea

Was bored on Looklet.. I think this would be nice for a smart summer look:

I was at the Malaysian Parliament last week.

Assalamualaikum and a very good evening to all my friends.

I'm so sorry for not updating this blog as much as I can. Recently, life has been making lots of changes which involves my dear husband and of course me too. One of them is his job with a local Assemblyman who is very enthusiastic in his da'wah and political works. My husband has been making lots of freelancing for web designing and he's also selling domain and webhosting. Alhamdulillah he met with a very energetic client who's also an assemblyman. I like what he's doing now because I can see that he's happy with his job. He seldom looks sad and grumpy anymore. Thank you Allah.

Last week he asked me to accompany him to the Parliament because he'll be doing a news coverage for the Kelantan Backbenches Team's official trip there. And we will be sponsored for a 2 days 2 nights stay in Kuala Lumpur. Of course, I want to go. This is the first time we travel together to Kuala Lumpur after 8 years of marriage. Alhamdulillah...it was such a memorable trip for both of us. You can read more here but it's in Malay.

This afternoon I am going to the Jom Heboh carnival in Kota Bharu because I want to see what's the difference of this program from other Jom Hebohs in other town in Malaysia. Hopefully this one will be Islamic compared to the others. Just wait and see.

A Somewhat Interesting Style Choice

Some hijab styles that you would perhaps not wear to the office.. Not unless you wake up before the crack of dawn to get ready anyway. (And yes, of course they're Egyptian styles..)
.
Think I'll be sticking to just the one scarf this time, thanks.

Looking for information on Halal Cheese in Malaysia

Assalamualaikum and good morning everyone. May blessings of Allah be with you. Insyaallah all of you are in iman and health.

Alhamdulillah after a 4-days leave I am back at work today. It was such a long absence at the Library and I kind of feel nervous, you know the feeling of meeting someone that you haven't seen for quite a long time. That's the feeling.

Anyway, back inside my comfortable office, surrounded by hundreds of books, files and magazines, I am home. Well not exactly home but it's the same feeling of being inside my home.

The downside is - lots of suspended works are waiting. Bills to settle, cheques to issue, books to check, read and reviews and also research for new information. I always love doing research but writing report is not my specialty.

Well, today's research is on halal cheese in Malaysia. This is a very interesting topic for me since I love baking bread, making pizza and also cooking with pasta. Usually cooking all this types of food I will use cheese. And I know many of us use cheese in our daily menu but the problem is where to get a halal cheese? I usually buy Australian cheeses which has a halal stamp from Australian Halal Board (I can't really remember the exact name, sorry.) but they aren't cheap.

Actually, I already know that there is a few halal cheese manufacturer in Malaysia but I haven't gave them a serious thought until now. A friend suggest that I become a dealer for one of the manufacturer and sell halal cheese in the East Coast region, interesting idea isn't it?

My research has brought me to these websites:

 Pic from here

All these pages are written in Malay (Bahasa Melayu) because they were intended for our local community. If you'd like to know more feel free to ask me and I'll try to find the answer.

I think I have two choices of cheese now, one is made from buffalo's milk and the other is made from palm oil. Alhamdulillah... the solution to my dilemma is now solved.

Wide Leg Trousers: Hijab Fashion

They are a hijabis best friend and pretty much a wardrobe staple, however wide leg jeans/trousers are not always the easiest to dress - it seems that straight cuts just go with everything and are generally much easier to wear with a dress. Here are some ideas to dress your wider trousers:

SMART:

Inspired by the above photo, I put together this outfit on Looklet:

I like the outfits in these pics, just add a long cardigan or a long line blazer (both bang on trend) and scarf to complete the look:

Here is a wide leg look I did on Polyvore a while back:

The Smart Hijabi

The Smart Hijabi by Zaenab

A similar look is worn here by Posh, I love the cross between smart and casual:

CASUAL:

A great summer look and wide rimmed straw hats actually look really good with a loosly tied scarf, believe it or not.

The utility look is big right now, so get down to gap for trousers similar to these and stay right on trend:

Here's a casual wide leg looked I put together on Looklet.com:

Hope this inspires you with some new wide leg trouser outfits :D

Maher Zain - For the rest of my life

I praise Allah for sending me you my love
You found me home and sail with me
And I`m here with you
Now let me let you know
You`ve opened my heart
I was always thinking that love was wrong
But everything was changed when you came along
OOOOO
And theres a couple words I want to say
Chorus:
For the rest of my life
I`ll be with you
I`ll stay by your side honest and true
Till the end of my time
I`ll be loving you.loving you
For the rest of my life
Thru days and night
I`ll thank Allah for open my eyes
Now and forever II`ll be there for you

I know that deep in my heart
I feel so blessed when I think of you
And I ask Allah to bless all we do
You`re my wife and my friend and my strength
And I pray we`re together in Janna
Now I find myself so strong
Everything changed when you came along
OOOO
And theres a couple word I want to say
*Repeat Chorus
I know that deep in my heart now that you`re here
Infront of me I strongly feel love
And I have no doubt
And I`m singing loud that I`ll love you eternally

Already missing him

Assalamualaikum and good evening everyone.

Firstly, I'm sorry if this entry would made you think that I am emotional. Well... yes, I am very emotional right now. Please do not read if you don't want to. I am just going to release my emotions here.

Source: My Space

After so many years of not being apart for more than a day, hubby is now somewhere in Kuala Terengganu attending some meetings there. He's appointment to go there came so late and too sudden for me to adapt to. I am already missing him. Someone from the State office came to our house at 11 this morning and took him to KT and tomorrow they might go to Kuala Lumpur. I don't know. The information that I have is too limited but I know he's with his friends.

You will feel the same if you have never be apart from your husband. Everyday when I get home from the office or from the bookshop he will always be in the house waiting for me because he's working from home. I can see his smile and feel his hug but now, the house feels so empty without him.

It's too quiet. And I am left alone with my load of working papers, assignments and my sickness, cough, cough. I wonder... this must be the feeling when your other half  is no longer with you. The loneliness and everything about him you will remember.

And the tears start falling down.

Oh, crap! I don't want to be like this. Insyaallah he'll be home by Tuesday.

I'm gonna busied myself with lots of reading - can't read the Qur'an right now, monthly issue so I will fill it with books, internet, playing with my nieces and nephew, they are home for the school holidays. Once in a while I can text him.

And still, I miss him. A lot. May Allah take good care of you my dear. And please come back home safely.

My Favourite Surfing Spot

Assalamualaikum and a very good afternoon everyone.

This is the second time I'm entering a Nuffnang's contest and this time it's under the Project Alpha. This one is for the Instant Cash Blogging contest. And this week's contest topic is My Favourite Surfing Spot.

As for me, my bedroom is always the best place for me to surf either day or night. It's because I have a SOHO bedroom to suit my life style.

Surfing is like an important routine in my daily schedule. I would be spending most of my time in front of the laptop at a small office inside my bedroom. If I feel like dozing of for a bit, the bed is just a few feet away.

Another best thing to surf at my favourite spot is because my dearest husband would also be nearby. Actually our working space is set up close together so that we can be side by side doing our work.

Since dearest husband bought the new Streamyx wireless modem, accessing the internet is so fast and easy at any nooks and corners of our house but the bedroom is still my favourite. I have everything that I need there and I always make sure that the room is neat and tidy.

So, I can always surf the Nuffnang websites and also the Project Alpha's to read their new updates. Ever since I signed up with Nuffnang, I seldom join their contest but once in a while if I see that it is suitable, I would try my luck.

Like this contest, it is to show my support for the Project Alpha and also to earn easy money - yes, Instant Cash Blogging is what they call it.

P1 Wimax Wiggy

Well since I have the Streamyx at home and at the office, I seldom need a broadband. However, it might be nice to have a P1 Wimax Wiggy as a handy gadget because you never know where you will be needing the internet. It will be a bonus to own one.

Project Alpha Season 2 is presented by Adidas Action 3 and supported by P1 and MAS.

CALL FOR 90 DAY MATERNITY LEAVE

Bernama - Sunday, March 14

KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 (Bernama) -- Deputy Health Minister Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin is all for the National Union of Bank Employees' (NUBE) call for the government to increase the maternity leave from 60 days to 90 days.

She said the ministry would discuss with the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry to pursue the matter.

"Indeed, there are constraints on the part of the employer if it is implemented, but they (employers) have to look at it from the positive side.

"This is because if the maternity leave is extended, they are actually encouraging mothers to breastfeed their babies," she told reporters after opening the "Say Yes To Breastfeeding" charity dinner here tonight.

-- BERNAMA

kakchik's note:
1. Government officials will be very happy if this call comes true.
2. My sisters will have more time to breastfeed their babies and grow a closer relationship with the babies.
3. I feel sorry whenever I see the babies have to feed on formulas just because my sisters have to get back to work after 2 months.

A Not So Pretty Hijab Style

This outfit is perhaps the most disgusting thing I have ever beheld. I kind of feel like I should be apologising to my poor eyes. And why on earth is she smiling?? Why?

Sometimes you've got to read something light and easy

... like this Shopaholic books set,

... just to ease the stress of reading so many journals, browsing so many websites, flipping through so many newspaper cuttings and rewriting the report so many times.

Actually, I already all these Sophie Kinsella's books but because they are an easy entertainment for me, I'll reread them whenever I want to release some negative energy.

Would reading this kind of books will help?

And my dear, could you please give me a little back-massage? I love you.

Random Hijab Photos

I'm reallyyy busy at the moment so sorry for the recent lack of posts :S Here are some random pics that I found in my 'Stylish Muslimah' file, they have been ignored for far too long as I have not had a need for them in any post - until now that is. Sorry, no time to narrate I have 3 coursework deadlines and a bloody test to revise for. Remind me.. what's so rewarding about "getting an education" again?? The neanderthals got by just fine as far as I know.
.
Ahh, I do love a white headscarf, it looks great on all colour complexions even though you might not think it would:
