The Government of Malaysia is urged to condemn Israeli raid on the Lifeline4Gaza humanitarian aid flotilla

PRESS RELEASE
Monday 31st May 2010
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Government of Malaysia is urged to condemn Israeli raid on the Lifeline4Gaza humanitarian aid flotilla

Latest Development on the Lifeline4Gaza Flotilla;

1. As have been widely publicised, the Lifeline4Gaza flotilla has come under attack by the Israeli armed forces. Israeli aggressors have boarded the capital ship Mavi Marmara and open fire resulting in 3 volunteers dead and more than 30 others seriously injured. Mavi Marmara is one of the 7 strong flotilla enroute to Gaza to deliver the much awaited material aids to the besieged people of Gaza.

2. Twelve volunteers including media representatives from Malaysia is on board the capital ship Mavi Marmara. Their participation is purely humanitarian in nature.

3. All the objectives and movement of the flotilla is in compliance with the UN Security Council Resolution 1860 (2009) and all relevant maritime regulations. Resolution 1860 stated among others:

a) Appeal for deliverance of humanitarian aid to Gaza including food, fuel and medical assistance.

b) Urge efforts to ease passage and other mechanisms for the unimpeded deliverance of aids.

c) Call for all nations to support such efforts at the international level to alleviate the dire humanitarian and economic situation in Gaza.

d) condemns acts of agression and attacks on civilians and all forms of acts of terrorism.
Every Malaysian participants in the flotilla are holding fast to the international regulations and laws and vow to uphold the goodname of Malaysia and our national aspirations.

4. The flotilla is laden with 10,000 tonnes of material aid. Over 540 volunteers are on board Mavi Marmara, including Parliamentarians, academics, journalists, scholars, an infant less than a year old and a senior citizen over 80 years old. No weapons were brought in this flotilla even for self defense which testifies to the wholly humanitarian nature of the mission.

5. Based on these facts it is very clear indeed that Israel has violated international laws. Whatmore the raid took place in international waters and on an unarmed aid ship on a humanitarian mission. Israeli rash action deserve a worldwide condemnation in the strongest possible term.

6. We appeal to the Government of Malaysia under the premiership of YAB Dato’ Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak and Datin Seri Paduka Rosmah Mansor in her capacity as patron for the Palestinian Aid Donations Drive to issue a statement condemning Israel for the murderous aggression on a peaceful flotilla whose objective is to deliver aid to the beseiged people of Gaza.

7. We call for the UN to convene an emergency assembly to pass a strong resolution against Israel and to summon Israeli leaders to the international court of justice for crime against humanity.

8. We call upon the Malaysians from all walks of life to express their utmost concern of the grave situation and to be ready to respond to any need for action and calls for our support in dealing with the incident.

9. We appeal to all political leaders, NGOs and the Malaysia people to join together in coming to the aid of the volunteers.

10. We also call upon every strata of the society to continue to supplicate and pray for the success of this mission and the safety of the volunteers from further untoward incidence.

Morning Shift

Assalamualaikum and good morning everyone.

This is very comforting and cool... No one is at the Family Area now and I am the only person here. Where are those regulars who always comes in the morning to read the newspapers? I wonder why they haven't arrive yet.

Currently I'm doing my shift at the front table of this Library. I love morning shift because I can focus more on keying in the data for the new books that we've received from Australia last 2 weeks. It's very peaceful and I can hear the sound of the vehicles passing by. I can even hear the air-conditioner's fans working to cool down the Library. Peace.

So peaceful... alhamdulillah.

If anyone ask, I'm not a librarian but I work at a Library. Since this library is a waqf public library, the small number of our staffs have to work in shifts so that everyone will be responsible tending the front desk, greeting the people coming in and out of our library,

Oh, here comes one of the regulars... till then, salam.

Simply beautiful

Abaya by Amal Murad Spring/Summer 2010 Collection.

Ms. Murad, your designs are such my taste!

Be patience

whenever someone says something bad about you
reflect and be patience
if you are on the right side
be cool and stay cool
let he/she says whatever he/she wants
then you reason
if you are wrong
ask forgiveness and repent
do not let bad words discourage you
be cool and stay cool
be patience and seek advice
you know...
the road that you choose is not always
pleasing to others
you choose to work for Islam
you choose to wear the sunnah styles
sometimes others would find that
your work and your appearance
rather unpleasing to their eyes
so what!
let them be...
just be patience and stay sabr.
you are just trying to please
Allah The Almighty.
that is what really counts.

When You Are in a Hurry

Assalamualaikum dear friends and good afternoon dear readers.

Sometimes you just don't have enough time to prepare a complete meal for your spouse especially in the morning and even for dinner. If you have to juggle between office job, bookshop, the house and also the university, cooking tend to be a bit of a hassle.

So, just cook something easy and can be ready in just a few minutes.

This is how I do it.

Breakfast: Express Pizza

Dinner: Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice)

Edited with this recipe for basic fried rice.
Serves 4 to 6

This is a basic recipe for fried rice that you can add to as desired. If adding other ingredients, increase the number of eggs to 3.

Ingredients:
  • 1 - 2 green onions, as desired
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • 4 tablespoons oil for stir-frying, or as needed
  • 4 cups cold cooked rice
  • 1 - 2 tablespoons light soy sauce or oyster sauce, as desired
  • Mix vegetables as much as you like
Preparation:
  • Wash and finely chop the green onion. Lightly beat the eggs with the salt and pepper.
  • Heat a wok or frying pan and add 2 tablespoons oil. When the oil is hot, add the eggs. Cook, stirring, until they are lightly scrambled but not too dry. Remove the eggs and clean out the pan.
  • Add 2 tablespoons oil. Add the rice. Stir-fry for a few minutes, using  a wooden spoon to break it apart. Stir in the soy sauce or oyster sauce as desired.
  • When the rice is heated through, add the scrambled egg back into the pan. Mix thoroughly. Mix in the vegetables. Stir in the green onion. Serve hot.

Alhamdulillah that I get no complaint from the other side of the table.

Ordered them but still not arrive yet

Last week I've ordered 2 pieces of niqabs and I butterfly abaya from Saharayusuf's blogshop. The niqabs was posted on Wednesday if I'm not mistaken and they should have reached me today. Hopefully they'll arrive tomorrow.

The niqabs are a one-layer plain type niqab. I try to find a pic from Saharayusuf but to no avail. She only have the pictures of niqabs with a little embellishments. They look nice but I prefer the plain one. If you'd like to buy pretty niqabs such as this:

and this:

you can visit saharayusuf.blogspot.com There are more choices there.

And for once in my life, I will try a butterfly abaya custom-made for me by a Malaysian. This is the abaya that I've ordered.

Now, is the time to wait patiently for their arrival. Hopefully they'll arrive this week because Sahara promised me, after the payment is cleared, it will take one week for her to finish making the abaya. So, I'm gonna trust her.

It's A Miracle - A Baby is One of the Survivors

From the latest news:

Plane crashes in India, 158 feared dead, 8 alive (Update)

MANGALORE, India (AP) - An Air India Express plane trying to land at a tricky hilltop airport in southern India overshot the runway, crashed over a cliff and burst into flames at dawn Saturday, killing nearly 160 people, officials said. There were eight survivors.
Dense black smoke billowed from the wreckage of the flaming Boeing 737-800 aircraft in a hilly area with thick grass and trees just outside Mangalore's Bajpe airport.
Firefighters sprayed water and foam on the plane - which was traveling from Dubai - as others struggled to find survivors. An Associated Press photo showed two rescuers running up a hill carrying a young girl covered in foam to waiting medics. The child's fate was not immediately known.
The plane was carrying 160 passengers - all Indian - and six crew members, Air India official Anup Srivastava said. The British pilot and Indian co-pilot were among the dead.
Workers pulled scores of burned bodies from the blackened tangle of aircraft cables, twisted metal, charred trees and mud at the crash site. Many of the dead were strapped into their seats, their bodies burned beyond recognition.
Relatives of the victims, who had come to the airport to meet them, stood near the wreckage weeping. "This is a major calamity," V.S. Acharya, home minister for the state of Karnataka, told CNN-IBN.
Ummer Farook Mohammed, a survivor who suffered burns on his face and hands, said it felt like a tire burst after the plane landed.
"There was a loud bang, and the plane caught fire," he said.
"The plane shook with vibrations and split into two," G.K. Pradeep, another survivor, told CNN-IBN television. He jumped out of the aircraft with four others into a pit, he said.
The plane had a small fire at first, but then a large explosion set off a bigger blaze, he said. By Saturday afternoon, rescuers had pulled 146 bodies from the wreckage. Eight other passengers had been rescued and were being treated in local hospitals, the airline said. Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said that conversations with the cockpit and other records showed the flight was operating normally before the touchdown.
Air India runs cheap flights under the Air India Express banner to Dubai and other Middle Eastern destinations where millions of Indian expatriate workers are employed. The crash was the deadliest in India since the November 1996 midair collision between a Saudi airliner and a Kazakh cargo plane near New Delhi that killed 349 people.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressed condolences and promised compensation for the families of the victims. Boeing said it was sending a team to aid in the investigation.
The crash took place about 6 a.m. when the plane tried to land at Bajpe, about 19 miles (30 kilometers) outside of Mangalore, and overshot the runway, said Jitender Bhargava, another official with the financially struggling Indian national carrier.
Scores of villagers scrambled over the hilly terrain to reach the wreckage, and began aiding in the rescue operation. Pre-monsoon rains over the past two days caused low visibility in the area, officials said. Officials differed on whether it was raining at the time of the crash.
At Dubai International Airport, a special room was set up to assist relatives and friends of the passengers at Terminal 2, a hub for many budget and small airlines. The Mangalore airport's location, on a plateau surrounded by hills, made it difficult for the firefighters to reach the scene of the crash, officials said. Aviation experts said Bajpe's "tabletop" runway, which ends in a valley, makes a bad crash inevitable when a plane does not stop in time.
"If the pilot overshoots the runway, the aircraft will be in trouble," said Asif, an aviation expert who uses one name.
Indian Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram said the plane's pilot, a British citizen, had more than 10,000 hours of flying experience, including 26 landings at Mangalore. The Indian co-pilot had more than 3,750 hours of experience and 66 landings at Mangalore, he said. External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna said the Mangalore runway had a reputation for being difficult.
"Our worst fears have come true," he told the Press Trust of India. Accidents of this type, known as "runway excursions," are fairly common, though the majority end without injury or damage.
The International Civil Aviation Organization and pilots' groups have urged airports worldwide to construct 300 meter (yard)-long safety extensions at the end of each runway for extra protection.
Older airports in built-up areas or those in tight locations with little room for extensions are advised to install soft ground layers _ known as arrestor beds - to slow planes, much as escape ramps on highways can stop trucks when their brakes fail.
The 8,000-foot (2,430-meter) Mangalore runway had a short spillover area of about 300 feet (90 meters) with a bed of sand designed to halt or slow a plane that overshoots, Patel said.
"Obviously, the aircraft was at a higher speed," he said. More than 32,000 landings had been made on the runway since it opened in 2006, officials said.
The crash came as the national carrier tries to weather serious financial difficulties. In February, the government approved a $173 million cash infusion for the airline, which has suffered decades of mismanagement and underinvestment.
My heartfelt condolences to all families who lost their loved ones in the crashed. May all of them rest in peace. And ... Mashaallah... shukr to all the survivors. Allah has given all of them a chance to 'live' and it's a miracle.

I Wonder..

..what his face would look like if they lifted up another layer of their niqabs..
.

Do Not Draw Our Prophet Muhammad!

I really hate when people do not respect my religion. This is Islam, my religion and also million of Muslims in this world. How can you be so ignorant when you know that Muslims protest the FB Campaign? This Zapiro person is really one hateful individual.

And below is the news piece that I've read in my local newspaper, NST.

JOHANNESBURG: A South African newspaper on Friday published a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed on a therapist’s couch, angering Muslims and raising fears of protests during next month’s World Cup.

The weekly Mail & Guardian ran the cartoon after the South African Council of Muslim Theologians failed in a midnight bid to get a court order stopping publication, the newspaper said on its website.

The image, drawn by renowned cartoonist Jonathan Shapiro, depicts the prophet on a therapist’s couch lamenting, “Other prophets have followers with a sense of humour!"

“I consider the newspaper court victory a triumph of freedom of speech. The cartoon was an assertion of freedom of speech, which we enjoy in this country,” said Shapiro, who works under the name Zapiro.

“I was hoping this time around a cartoon like this could get into the paper without any kind of protests,” he told AFP.

The newspaper said the Council of Muslim Theologians had raised the spectre of a violent backlash during the World Cup, which kicks off June 11, in arguments before the court requesting an injunction against the cartoon.

The paper said it received a flood of angry calls Friday, including death threats against Zapiro.

“’You’ve got to watch your back’ and ’This will cost him his life’ were some of the remarks made,” the paper said.

It said the image was a response to the controversy surrounding an “Everybody Draw Muhammad Day” campaign on Facebook, which called on political cartoonists and others to break the Muslim taboo on images of the prophet.

The campaign recalled the deadly riots that followed a 2006 controversy surrounding a Danish newspaper’s publication of a series of Mohammed cartoons.

Shapiro said he did not expect his cartoon to spark protests and anger among the Muslim community. (Oh, pleaseeeeee... you already know but you still do it. Hateful.)

“Everybody has a right to protest, it would not be the first time that my work has caused some discomfort,” he said.

Zapiro’s controversial work includes a 2008 carton that showed President Jacob Zuma unzipping his pants to rape a blindfolded Lady Justice.

The figure is held down by Zuma allies, with one saying, “Go for it, boss!" -- AFP

And speaking on FREEDOM OF SPEECH, why can't Muslim women all over the world wear the burqa? Isn't it the FREEDOM OF HUMAN RIGHTS? Bias people. And you say your countries support human rights. Liars.

Some Home Truths...

Modesty and self respect do not manifest themselves from religion or rules, they are qualities that come from the heart - regardless of beliefs.. or no beliefs as the case may be. You might find the links interesting:

Miss USA..

(I've never understood why they choose immigrants to represent their country in these beauty contests anyway. I mean come on, there's being politically correct and then there's just being plain contradictory..)

You would wonder how big is the size of this bags. Let see...

I'm gonna sleep dreaming of this bags now. You can too if you like, lol. Maybe I need to start counting my money and make necessary investment in order to bu this bags (I want both).

Just in my dream....

Free Secondhand Jubah to Give Away

Assalamualaikum to all dear friends. May everyone are in good health and enjoying a wonderful day no matter where you are.

As I've mentioned before, I am now officially living in my new home but no housewarming yet. There are lots of things that we haven't settle especially the problem with the windows in the library and the 2 bedrooms upstairs. Anyway, while packing to move out from our recent room at my family's home, I've sorted out lots of my clothes into a few categories. One big pile is my jubah/jelbab collection which I do not or seldom wear anymore. You know... I wear abaya everyday now.

Those jubahs are still very much in good conditions except for a few missing buttons and the colours are not as good as before. Don't be surprise if I say most of them were made more than 10 years ago. I am very particular in choosing materials for making my jubah. All of them in the picture below were custom made for me except for 2, the dark blue pattern jubah and the dark brown jubah (2nd from below in the right side pile). I seldom find jubah for my size, the smallest of them all, lol... which is XS or sometimes SS.

Let's take a look, shall we.

These are only half of them. I still have lots to give away. BUT... please be aware that all these jubahs are MY SIZE which is 50" in length, 40" in bust and 16.5" for shoulder. Very small isn't it? LOL. So... if anyone interested, please leave a message in the comment box along with your email. Insyaallah I'll get back to you after that.

And.... you would have to pay for postage, I'm sorry.
Wassalam.

Cause Allah is always by your side

I am bless to know you...

Assalamualaikum and peace to everyone.

Dear friends,

After writing my morning post, reading and replying to your comments, I feel like I am the luckiest person on this world. I am not exaggerating here, it's true. Here are the reasons:

  • Even though we have never met one another, I feel like we are already very close friends.
  • I know a few things about you and certainly more than a few things about some of you.
  • I read your comments and I feel like you are hugging me and whispering words of consolation in my ears.
  • The friendship between us, I treasured so much.
  • A few of you even took time to send me emails to give me advice on things that I might have done wrongly, not on par with Islam, thank you.
  • It's great to have friends, sincere friends...
YOU... I am bless to know you... ALL MY FRIENDS.

Oh, there's a message from Hubby, "Salam Yang.. dk wt gapo tu? Sibuk eh...:- "I praise Allah 4 sending me u my love..."
Translation: " Salam Honey. What are you doing right now? You must be busy...:- "I praise Allah 4 sending me u my love..."

He must have read my previous post and he love that song from Maher Zain.
That makes me better, much much better. Alhamdulillah.

Please... don't hurt me anymore.

Assalamualaikum to all my dear friends.

How's everyone these days? Hopefully life is getting better and better for all of us in every aspects of it. More important, if our life is getting better in a spiritual way and we become more pious and religious while we struggle with all the daily chores as human on this planet.

This morning when I was driving to work, I listened to Maher Zain's Insyaallah all the way from home to my office. Yes, the same song keep repeating itself on and on. Well, actually that was my own doing, lol. I am a bit in a down mood lately. I summarized it down to the after effect of moving house and starting my new term at university.

No, I'm just bluffing.

I don't know... sometimes certain people can really make me hurt inside. I am quite sad when yesterday, my colleagues were talking about how easy for them to get pregnant and they sound like they were boasting about it in front of me who are not blessed yet with child. They know about me and how sensitive I was about the issue but I can't blame them. They are right!

Anyway, people's mouth can just cannot be shut up. Maybe out of envy and my own hurtful experiences, all the talking makes my mood really bad and all day long I just kept quiet. And I just kept doing that even though I am back at home. I was supposed to be the happy wife, active and lively so that my husband wouldn't know that I am dispirited.

However things got worse. After praying my Asr, the water tank broke and I just sobbed into my prayer cloth... silently. Don't want hubby to know about it because then I'll make him sad and he is not very patient with sadness. Better to suffer alone. No one will really understand except Allah Subhanahuwata'ala.

Then late yesterday's afternoon, my 8-months-pregnant sister came home. I just couldn't take it anymore and kept to myself inside my room, reading the Qur'an and not talking at all with anyone including Hubby. He's so busy with his work. I bet he don't even notice me. Not until Thomas Cup, Uber Cup and whatever 'cups' will finish then he'll be as usual again. And ... that might be long after World Cup.

Where was I? Oh, the pregnancy issue. I know, I'm trying to be tough. I succeeded but only to some extend. When people keep harrasing me with he the same questions, insinuating me, and saying I'm not fertile... The word infertile is very very very hurtful. I think I might explode... soon. But alhamdulillah, never to that extend yet because I always cool my anger and hurt down with istighfar and just get myself away from those people.

I keep praying everyday and every time that Allah remembers me and my pleas. I pray that He loves me enough to bless me with a fertile womb. I am trying and if I have enough money I'm considering IVF. The fatwa has come out that Muslims can also do IVF by following certain rules. Yes, I know... and I already research, read and even attended a seminar about it. But right now, it's not possible. The cost is way too high.

I forgive those people who hurt me either intentionally or not because at the end of the day, it's between me and my Lord.

Imam concerned over computer games' effect on children

KUALA LUMPUR: An imam here has expressed concern over the impact of computer games on children, saying the portrayal of gods as well as heaven and earth in these games could potentially confuse them about the concept of the hereafter.
Chief Imam of the Usamah bin Zahid Mosque in Wangsa Maju, Ustaz Murshidi Abdul Hamid, said although these were merely games, if left unchecked, they could negatively impact the minds of the young people.
Parents should also keep an eye on the type of games played by their children, he said.
"Parents should prohibit their children from playing certain games if they contain elements which are against or derogatory to Islam," he told Bernama.
Meanwhile, a lecturer at Universiti Putra Malaysia's Communications and Media Studies Faculty, Ishak Abdul Hamid, said exposure to negative elements in computer games could also affect the children's psychological development.
"They become obsessed with playing computer games to the point of neglecting their studies," he said.
He urged parents to get themselves acquainted with the development in computer games software so that they would be able to tell which software were suitable for their children. - Bernama

Lovely Bisht/Butterfly Abaya

Assalamualaikum to all dear friends.

It's just my new idea from Polyvore. I don't have enough time to update this blog today. So for tonight, enjoy this set.

Hope for the best in every moment of our life. May Allah bless you.

Wassalam.

The waiting is over.

It finally arrived at my door. Safe and sound.

Assalamualaikum and peace.

I haven't posted anything about my new abaya since early this year. It's because I haven't bought any till the middle of last March. I think I've shared the picture of this abaya. It's a birthday present that I cherished so much. Thank you to Allah The Almighty who make this abaya, mine.

As said by a friend of mine, ever since wearing the black abayaat, there are no more feeling of wearing other type of abaya, jubah or jilbab. No more interest in them. Yes, she is correct. Same goes with me. I don't think I'll change to colored abaya except for a few which I get as sample. I need to sample them so that I'll know their pros and cons before promoting them to customers.

Anyway, back to the abaya above, today, I wore it to work! Yes, after asking all the family members whether it looks too flashy or not. Since everyone said that it just look like my usual abaya, I opted to wear it. Everything is great except that the sleeves are a bit disturbing when you have to use lots of hands works. Apart from that, the abaya is just great.

Oh, if anyone interested in ordering the same abaya, the price is RM300 and you can contact me.

Wassalam.

New abaya style ideas

Assalamualaikum everyone!

What a nice and beautiful day. I feel like creating a set for abaya style idea. It's only taking me a few minutes, so I can just dash here and there doing my job while I publish the sets here.

Oh, the second one was done last night.

Enjoy.

For this second idea, make sure the hijab covers your chest to make it proper. We do not want to let people see them, right?. So, cover properly.

How much do I earn?

For CPM campaigns

  • What you earn depends on the number of Average Unique visitors you received in the week that the ad campaign is built.
  • You will then be arranged into specific “Blogger bands” that directly correspond to your number of Average Unique visitors.
  • For each campaign, you will be paid a fixed amount for every ad unit. The amount depends on what your Blogger band is. The higher your Blogger band (i.e. more unique visitors), the higher your earnings.
  • All information on your blogger band and your earnings can be viewed within your CMS Earnings Page. All information will be updated within 3 working days after the ad campaign is completed.

For CPC campaigns

  • You earn by the number of unique clicks generated by your unique visitors on the ad unit that is running the CPC campaign.
  • Your earnings will be credited 3 days after the CPC campaign ends. A CPC campaign ends when it reaches its maximum number of clicks.
  • Should your blog display a CPC ad but not generate any clicks on the ad unit, no earnings will be accumulated and updated.

For MCPM (Metered CPM) campaigns

  • Advertisers buy a set of unique visitors from your blog that will be able to see their ads on your blog for a certain number of weeks.
  • The earnings for your mCPM campaign will be held in Buffered Earnings while the campaign is running till your blog finish serving the number of uniques the advertisers bought from your blog. Once your blog finish serving the number of uniques, the earnings will be credited to your Current Earnings.
Got to have my lunch now. See you.

I want to be a superwoman

but how?

Assalamualaikum everyone.

Life has turn out to be a roller coaster for me. So many things, important works and projects pile up on the same week and I just couldn't smooth out my life as smooth as I want.

It's been crazy busy.

I miss this blog especially all my friends here.

Once again I've been MIA.

I have many thing that I would like to share but there are too much responsibilities right now. They are more important because my life is part of them. Just couldn't explain it here. Please forgive me dear friends.

I miss writing about fashion. I miss sharing pictures of places I've went for shopping. I miss promoting bloghops and most of all I miss interacting with you, my readers, my followers. Thank you very much for staying loyal to KakChik's Wardrobe.

May Allah bless all of you.

Wassalam.
