Gorgeous Akhawat Abayas But Way Too Expensive for Me

Akhawat - Abaya Couture is one of the many companies that sells abayas online and this company has chosen to use facebook as their medium. My first impression seeing its collection was, WOW! Yes, mashaallah, the abaya collection is really gorgeous.

Some are very simply designed but when you look at it, you see elegant, you see beauty and you see quality. All the characters that make me like the abayas. Just take a look at this one:

The design is very simple but upon looking at it I personally think this is a good quality abaya and very much my type. And look at this one too:

The contrasting colour between the main body of the abaya and the sleeves and also the shayla makes the abaya look so glamour but in a modest way. I like this type of design very much.

Frankly speaking, I love most of the collections BUT there is only one problem, they are very pricey. Yeah, what do you expect from designers abayas right? They have been designing and making those abayas from A to Z and how can they sell them below MYR300?

As my aim in life is to be modest so I won't be spending my money buying an abaya this expensive. I can use that much money to buy other things which are more important. I know... they are really nice to look at and I wish someone would give me one as a present, lol.

Working is Ibadah and Wearing a Proper & Modest Clothes is Ibadah Too.

Hi, we meet again. Alhamdulillah. It means that Allah has given us another day, another opportunity to use this life as best as we can to gain more reward for our afterlife. 

One way to do that is by working for the sake of Allah. In order to make our job as ibadah, our intention must be because of Him. That's why we are encouraged to say Bismillah before we start anything.

And the work must be halal.

Another thing which is related to making our job as an ibadah, I think we need to dress properly as a Muslim should. When I said proper, it means always remind our selves to choose suitable clothes so that when others see us, the first impression is, "She's a Muslim."

Better yet, "She's a pious Muslim."

Abaya Business Is Booming

Dear readers,

After one year of selling abayaat online, I've came across and became friends with quite a number of abaya sellers who have their own online shops either in the blog world or through facebook.

Frankly speaking, I think more and more Malaysian Muslim women are buying and wearing abaya. Why would I say this? It's because many online boutiques are now have their own lines for abaya. 

3 years ago I thought abayaat are only made in UAE or KSA. Now I know that they can also be made in Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and also in Malaysia. The difference are quality of the material used, the suitability of the material with Malaysian weather and also the designs.

One reader has sent me an email saying that my blog has influenced her in changing her wardrobe from a daily pants + blouse to abaya and she's thinking of wearing the niqab but still not ready. Allahu Allah. I've never thought that I might influenced others. I hope Allah will look at my influence as something good for the ummah.

She Inpires Me: Amal Murad

Assalamualaikum, Jumu'ah Mubarak and Eid Mubarak!

Alhamdulillah for the blessings that Allah has bestow upon me. There are lots of things that I truly feel grateful especially when it's Jumu'ah morning. It's great to breathe the morning air of Jumu'ah which always make me feel so thankful and wonderful. Thank you Allah for giving me another day on this world. Insyaallah I'll fulfill it with many good deeds.

As I was doing my morning routine which consist of boiling water, prepare our breakfast, checking the emails and messages on facebook, I login to youtube and look for 'abaya'. As usual when I watched videos about abaya, my mind keep going to Ms. Amal Murad, the famous abaya designer.

I just couldn't resist looking after her facebook profile which I'm still on her 'awaiting friend conformation' list but I can still look at the photos in her albums. And please forgive me Ms Amal, because I've copied this gorgeous photo of you.

Simply beautiful, both the designer and the abaya.

You always inpires me. I'm so thankful that in the fashion world, there is someone like you who creates so many modest, elegant, beautiful and gorgeous abayaat. I'm not a designer but I love wearing abaya and make lots of abaya style ideas because I believe, we can still be elegant and modest at the same time. 

More important, as a Muslim woman, I really want others to see that Islam does not restrict it's believers from being beautiful as long as they follow the correct Islamic dress code. Ahem, I wish you would cover more of the chest area but who am I to say so? Only my du'as are for you.

My Personal Abaya Collection

Assalamualaikum and good afternoon everyone.

I am very tired right now and almost fall asleep on this chair. It was a very busy day for me. I just want to lie down and close my eyes but it's not possible yet. Insyaallah when I completed half of the data entries for Abaya Elegan's inventories, I'll get my rest.

So, this is a kind of entry that is intended to make me alert. A short intermission from all those confusing data. Let's talk about my wardrobe. Yes, the real KakChik's Wardrobe.

I think I've already shown you in another entry those inside look of my wardrobe. So, I won't be sharing any new photo of the same view. Why don't I show one by one some of my current abayaat collection? I have nearly 20 pieces of black abayaat which I wear daily and more than half of the collection is from Dubai.

Let's not waste anymore time and we proceed to the first photo.

My first abaya. It was from Indonesia. Has lots of beautiful neatly sewn beads on the chest.

An abaya from Vietnam. It is decorated with beads and sequins.

My favourite abaya for formal occasions. Lots of customers also like this Dubai abaya.

My one and only Mecca abaya. Also my favourite.

My 36th. birthday present. An expensive Dubai abaya which I love very much.

My 2nd. butterfly abaya which the dressmaker named after my real name. 

An abaya from Qatar which was supposed to be a gift for a friend but turn out smaller than her normal size. Now it's mine.

Another favourite abaya. I still remember the day I wore this abaya during a promotion, customers bought every size available because they think it's so gorgeous.

The latest addition. The cutting is just right for me and it flows nicely when I wear it.

That's not all but I think it's enough to share with you. Ever since I started wearing black abaya, I am not interested anymore in coloured abaya. I have give away all my jilbabs because I don't want to waste them inside my wardrobe. It's better if they can find a new owner who'll appreciate and wear them.

Enough said, I'm going to continue my work. Salam.

What I wore to work today?

Assalamualaikum and good afternoon everyone.

Alhamdulillah, thank you Allah for giving me back my healthy body. I was a bit sick since Monday afternoon and was resting at home yesterday. Insyaallah I'm now at my office trying to do some accounts. I am glad that I can come to work. If not I might have a big load of files on my table by this Saturday. Of course I do not want that, so here I am taking a little rest from the spreadsheet.

This morning when I was getting ready, I was looking at my abayaat in the wardrobe and this thought came to my mind, "Let's wear something that can make you feel full of energy. Yes, let's wear something that have red on it." And I choose the red on black abaya aisyah to wear.

Well, I don't have time to snap any photo but you can see what I look like from the photo above. Same style but not the same bag. This time I carry another bag, that match my abaya.

My New Abaya

Assalamualaikum and good evening to all friends and readers.

To abaya lovers out there, let's wear abaya. It's so comfortable and suitable to every kind of events. LOL, please forgive me my friends for being so in love with this type of clothes. I am not saying that other kind of muslimah dresses are not good. It's just that I love abaya.

Ever since I started wearing my first abaya in 2007, my wardrobe has made an almost 180 degree changes. If you have the opportunity to open the door of my wardrobe, you shouldn't be surprise if everything inside it is black.

And recently I have added another one to the increasingly crowded storage. A few already found a new owner during Ramadhan and that's why I have to re-stock hehe.

I am not buying expensive ones, only a 'budget abaya'.

My new dream.

If yesterday, I was dreaming about a new boots and I did bought it, today, I'm planning on getting this new abaya.

I sell this abaya at my blogshop ABAYA ELEGAN but I do not own it. Right now, I'm saving money to buy this abaya for Eid-ul-Adha.

It's one of the hot selling item at ABAYA ELEGAN during the fasting month. People bought it to wear during Eid-ul-Fitr.

I think this abaya would be exclusively for special occasions.

My Wedding Abaya

Assalamualaikum and Ramadhan Mubarak.

Just now, one of my FB friends mention that she saw a picture of my wedding abaya. Well, I almost forgot that 2 years ago I've made a post about it. And a few months ago I think our friend, JASMINA wrote something about wanting to see my wedding abaya. Hopefully I'm not mistaken.

Anyway, if anyone still interested to have a look, here are the pictures of my wedding abaya.

The outside layer is mosty green while the inside is milky green.

And I'm so glad that I can still fit into this abaya. I just wear it during Eid and sometimes when I attend formal events such as weddings and dinners.

SunnahStyle Bisht Abaya

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh.

Do you know what is bisht abaya? Have you ever heard of square cut abaya? Maybe you've read about butterfly abaya in my previous post. Actually bisht abaya, square cut abaya and butterfly abaya arae basically the same kind of abaya. Bisht is actually a traditional jilbab for Middle Eastern men. They are usually worn in formal ceremony. It is usually a black square cut robe with gold trimming.

However, today, I'm going to share with you some information about bisht abaya for women which is very modest and particularly follow the sunnah style. As I am not very knowledgeable about this abaya so I have borrowed a very good post about bisht abaya from SunnahStyle Blog.

Beautiful bisht abayat

Design

The Bisht abaya style has a similar to design to the full butterfly style but unlike the butterfly, it has no seam to define the body or sleeves. This gives the abaya an open width which allows it to fit loosely on every body type. The style is actually very similar to the traditional overhead (without sleeves) but instead of being worn on the head, it is worn on the shoulders. Compared to other shoulder abayas, the bisht provides superior coverage which is almost equivalent to an overhead.

The side edges of the bisht abaya can be shaped in two ways - they can be gradually tapered in towards the bottom of the garment or they can be square shaped. The tapered sides reduce the amount of excess fabric which makes the abaya more manageable when worn. The tapering also prevents the sides from dragging below the actual length of the garment. As for the square sides, this design does provide more coverage since it includes much more fabric. However, the square sides can be impractical depending on where the abaya is being worn since the sides have a tendency to drag.

Pros

The design of the bisht abaya makes it super modest and useful for wearing over fancy and glittery garments. The style is also great for the summer since the loose fit allows air to flow through easily and is just as wearable in the winter when it can be worn over warm bulky clothing.

The cut of the abaya allows it to fit comfortably on expecting sisters, even in the later stages of pregnancy. Better yet, it can still be worn after birth without looking like maternity wear. All of our current bisht abayas at SunnahStyle.com also include a zipper opening at the neck to accomodate nursing mothers.

Sizing

Our favourite thing about the Bisht style is that it is naturally one-size-fits-all. Since the style has no defined body or sleeves, it provides a loose and flowing fit for all body types, including plus and petite.

When choosing your size for a bisht style abaya the only two measurements you need to look at are the length and the sleeve span since the width will fit regardless. The sleeve span measurement is important since it affects the way the sleeves and shoulders fit. To measure your sleeve span, take an abaya or top that you currently own and fits you well. Lay the garment on the floor with the arms spread straight out in the shape of a ‘T’. Then measure from the start of one sleeve, across the front of the garment to the start of the other sleeve. Your sleeve span should be equal to or close to the actual sleeve span of the abaya for a similar fit.

Actually if you have the nick for sewing, you can easily sew a bisht abaya for your own self because it is quite easy. But if you are a busy person like me, you can have someone else make the abaya for you. Remember my butterfly abaya? It was a square cut bisht but I have tapered the end a bit to make it easier for me to walk without the end of the abaya sweeping the floor.

Well, it depends on where you wear it.
