I always remember my parents watching Al-Jazeera news, as far back as I can recall. And I sat and watched, every evening, the reports that I didn't care much about. It just went in one ear and out the other.. But I do remember when one of the reporters (Khadija Ben Ganna) who had been there for years, wearing no hijab suddenly came on air in 2003 fully dressed in Islamic clothes. I found the transformation rather fascinating even when I had little interest in the hijab myself. For me, it certainly brightened up that dull session of news..
